Ingredients you will need to make these granola energy bites

  • Medjool Dates + Water. Medjool dates are much softer and juicier, so I love incorporating them into energy bite recipes. Make sure you soak them first in warm water to soften them, and then add extra water to the food processor before blending everything together.
  • Walnuts. For added flavour and loads of benefits like improving heart health, reducing cholesterol and improving blood pressure.
  • Protein Powder. I love including this to get an extra boost of protein in my snacks.
  • Chia Seeds. Helps to make all the ingredients stick together, and is great for adding fibre to this recipe.
  • Hemp Hearts. Adds extra protein to these energy bites!
  • One Degree Organic Quick Oats. I love using One Degree Organic oats because they are glyphosate-free and 100% traceable. You can see where the ingredients come from, and know what’s in your food.
  • Peanut Butter. Or any nut butter of choice.
  • One Degree Organic Quinoa Cacao Granola. Folded in at the end. I love adding granola to these energy bites because it gives an extra crunch! I also love the cacao flavour of this one since the base of these energy bites are made with simple ingredients.

Tips on making these granola energy bites

  • Soak your dates. Soak them in warm/hot water for 5-10 minutes, drain the excess water then add it to your food processor. This will make it much easier to blend together with the other ingredients. Adding that extra water also helps to soften the mixture.
  • Pulse the mixture. I normally let everything pulse together for 5-10 seconds, and scrape down the sides in between pulses. This helps you keep an eye on the texture if you prefer the ingredients to be in bigger chunks. You also want to make sure you don’t pulse it too much to the point that it’s completely pureed together!
  • Fold in the granola. We want it to stay crunchy, so fold it in with a spatula once you’ve gotten the energy bites to your desired consistency.
