Summer is drink season, which means I will be sipping on mojito’s until further notice. I prefer mine as a mocktail, but you can easily add some alcohol to this recipe! It’s super easy to make, requires just a handful of ingredients and 5 minutes of your time. You will fall in love with this drink recipe, and will want to be sipping these by the pool any change you can get.

virgin mojito garnished with mint and cucumber

Ingredients you’ll need to make this refreshing virgin mojito

  • Ice. Since we’ll be using a cocktail mixer, you’ll need to add ice to this so your drink stays extra fresh.
  • Carbonated/Sparkling Water. You can use any fizzy water of your choice, I love going with a lemon-infused option since it adds more flavour.
  • Limes. I absolutely love limes (maybe even more than lemon?) and find it adds so much flavour to this drink. I squeezed out the juice from 1-2 limes for this, but you can add as little or as much as you desire.
  • Fresh Mint. Adding mint to a drink really helps to make it just that much more refreshing! The flavour is not too overpowering, but the subtleness of it really makes this mojito so much better.
  • Cucumber. This is optional, but you can add some cucumber to your glass to add an extra refreshing touch.
  • Sweetener. If you want this drink to have a bit more sweetness to it, you can add simple syrup or any sweetener of your choice.
  • Alcohol. I chose to enjoy this as a mocktail, but who says you can’t spice it up!? You can add a shot of rum to this drink to make it a little boozy.

Equipment to use when making this refreshing virgin mojito

  • Cocktail Shaker. In order to mix all of the ingredients together, you’ll need a cocktail shaker. This is going to help all of the flavours marinate together so you can get a refreshing, flavourful mojito.

Tips on making this refreshing non-alcoholic mojito

  • Do not add the entire can of sparkling water to your cocktail shaker. Also, do not shake the cocktail shaker vigorously, otherwise it will explode. The carbonated water being shaken will form bubbles, create pressure, and have the top of the cocktail shaker to come off as you’re shaking it. To avoid this, shake slowly, and only add half of the can to the cocktail shaker.
  • Add in other ingredients to make this mojito sweet. I’ve tried this recipe with some lemonade and it tastes incredible! You can add this to the cocktail shaker instead of the sparkling water, shake everything together then pour into your glass. Add the sparkling water to your glass, then stir gently with a spoon.
  • Add extra mint leaves and cucumber to garnish. This is optional, but highly recommended. It helps to add flavour to the drink, and makes it that much more refreshing.

Can I store leftovers of this virgin mojito?

If you have any leftover, you can add this to a large pitcher or bottle and store in the fridge for 2-3 days. Note that if you added any sparkling water, it may get a bit flat and loose the bubbly taste.
