Ingredients needed to make these no bake banana bread energy balls

  • Bananas. I love using super ripe bananas because it adds more sweetness!
  • Oats. You can use rolled oats or quick oats. I don’t recommend using steel cut oats since they are cut into smaller pieces.
  • Cinnamon. This adds such a nice, cozy flavour! Who doesn’t love some cinnamon?
  • Peanut Butter. This helps bind the ingredients together and provides your dose of healthy fat in these energy balls.
  • Coffee Grains. For an added boost of flavour. Totally optional, but I wouldn’t skip this step!
  • Maple Syrup. For a touch of added sweetness.
  • Flax seeds. This adds some fibre and omega-3s!
  • Hemp Hearts. This adds an extra protein boost!
  • Vegan Protein Powder. I love using Botanica Health because of the ingredients, but you can definitely use any type of protein powder of choice.
  • Chocolate Chips. Because it wouldn’t be banana bread energy bites without some chocolate!

Tips on how to make these banana bread energy bites

  • Mash bananas on a flat surface before adding to your bowl of ingredients. I’ve found this is the easiest way to mash bananas, so definitely try this out for this recipe!
  • Use a cookie scoop to form into balls. This dough is a little more wet than a normal energy ball recipe, so the best thing to do is use a cookie scooper, then place the balls in the freezer for 30 minutes to 1 hour and roll them into actual balls. The reason why these energy balls are more wet than other recipes is because they are made with super ripe mashed bananas, so they taste very fresh! The flavour is definitely not compromised, as these energy bites really do taste like bananan bread!

How to store these energy balls

Place these banana bread protein energy balls in the freezer. They can last in the freezer for up to one month. If you’d like to eat them straight from the freezer they should still be slightly soft, if not you can let them thaw out for about 5 minutes before enjoying.
